One of the major parts of my life has been teaching.  I have taught for well over ten years at the community college level.  English and the humanities have been my focus, and there are always areas that you can dive into and grow as a human being beyond what you start out with as a specialty.

It’s one of the most supportive (by coworkers and supervisors) jobs I’ve ever had.  Sharing best practices, how to reach students, how to improve or improvise lessons and assignments are daily constants.

One thing I love doing in freshman level writing courses is letting the students get to know each other and have time to talk.  I want to build a community with them, and that means giving them time to build that community with each other.
